FROM THE DIRECTOR:
Leigh Piper:
This is all beginning to feel a little too familiar. "Three halves" marks my fifth youth show with Pelican as Director, which comes hand in hand with once again writing out my little bits and peices for the program.
This show has been a very different experience from day one. The one-act play format brings with it an entirely different structure for all aspects. From writing, to directing, co-ordinating the team, and especially the rehearsing!
Overall, I'm ecstatic with what this show has become. The kids have done an amazing job in bringing these exciting and individual scripts to life with brilliant characterisation and a constant barrage of input and ideas. Not to mention the excellent team at Pelican providing support with writing and the technical gear to help make this all a possibility. Thanks guys!

FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR:
Gordon Gribbin:
Once more Pelican Theatre is presenting original work written by company members. Pelican offers a unique opportunity to members to have their dramatic creations rehearsed and performed in public.
There are other organisations in Melbourne that produce plays for new playwrights, but they normally charge huge fees for the privilege. We do it for our members as part of our artistic program, providing rehearsal space, lighting and sound of a high standard.
For any one of tonight's budding playwrights this evening could mark the beginning of a long and productive career in theatre writing. That is the future, and the future is what Pelican Theatre is all about.

FROM THE WRITERS:
Team 73! by Emily Bonnici:
Emily has always felt awkward writing in the third person, but she thinks she is finally coming to terms with the idea. Since she was young, Emily has shown a passion for creative writing and that combined with her newfound love for acting, scriptwriting has been something she has really enjoyed.
The opportunity to see one of her projects transform from page to stage has been one which she has treasured; she has loved every moment. She hopes you enjoy the show!

The Last of Summer by Sarah Ferris:
Sarah Ferris was born at a very early age and has no experience writing either plays or biographies of herself in the third person.
Despite these limitations she's written something that sort of, kinda, could loosely be described as being somewhat similar to a play. It is called "The Last Of Summer" and it was inspired by a vast number of obscure literary and artistic works that you've probably never heard of.
When not being condescending she enjoys fly fishing and making quiche.

Looks Like We’re Going to Need a Hero! By Leigh Piper:
Well, suffice to say I don't pride myself on my writing ability. Though, I must admit I am very pleased with how this script came together.
During the writing process I knew that with such little actors, I was going to have to make it punchy and a little bit zany.
I had a great time writing it, and I hope you have a great time watching it!
