Our new play `SCROOGE` has been postponed until next year. Rehearsals for The Twelve Ghosts Of Christmas start on October 2nd at the Hastings Hall, 7.30pm. This show will be performed late November, the actual date revolves around the Federal Election as the Hall is used as a polling place. |

Gordon Gribbin, President and Musical Director of Pelican Theatre Company, has organised ballroom dancing lessons in the Hastings Hall. There is a keen interest in ballroom dancing nowadays, evidenced by the TV show Dancing with the Stars. And last year, the Black Tie Dinner Dance held by Pelican Theatre created a lot of interest in further events of this nature. Jan and John Foster will teach couples how to swoop around the Hall in a graceful quickstep and waltz. What better way to get out of the house and meet new people, whilst having a ball at the same time? |

Last Sunday we presented a Concert featuring the Big Band sound of Westernport Regional Band and the magnificent Voices of the Victoria Welsh Choir ~ singing traditional Welsh hymns, folksongs and a variety of songs from stage shows. It was a wonderful event. More photos will be added to this site soon. |

Pelican Theatre Company are now the proud owners of 18 Illumination Devices (lights) to shine on all of our future shows. Until now, we have had to hire lighting equipment ... now we have our own. Here are some pics of the new equipment... |

We had our Christmas get-together on the Hastings foreshore Sunday 17th December. Although hot and very dry, the day was enjoyed immensely by those that came along. |

The PAPA course is going very well, and Pelican Theatre’s involvement with the Western Port Festival is keeping Malcolm and Gordon very busy. A new play is planned for early next year, no details to hand yet but keep watching this space for more news. |

Well, it had to happen. If you have all your eggs in the one basket... The hosting service used for Pelican Theatre`s website disappeared suddenly without warning about six days ago. Along with it went all of my other websites as well. They are not lost, everything is backed up on two computers and a server under my control. But the sensible thing to do, as with all computer data backups, is to have two hosting services, so I am setting up one for the Pelican Theatre website and another one to host my personal sites. Then if one of them goes belly up, I can quickly upload again to the other one. Take heed... If you have a lot of valuable data (Word files, photos, music) on only one computer, you are asking for trouble. AT LEAST back them up onto CD or DVD (two copies please, store one offsite), but a second computer networked to your main computer is a valuable asset. Rumour has it that our President Malcolm Scown and our Artistic Director Gordon Gribbin are involved with the resurrection of the Westernport Festival. The Festival will be re-vamped, with a `new look`, if Mal has anything to do with it! More news about this as it comes to hand. The Sound Shell is back on the drawing board as well. Pop into the Pelican office (front room of Hastings Hall) for more information. |

Sorry, I have been away on holidays in New Zealand, didn`t want to come back! If you missed the BLACK TIE FORMAL BALL that’s a pity, but the rumour is that we may be having another one. Pelican Theatre Company proudly presents The Jack Morris BIG BAND and Western Port Regional Band in a pleasant SUNDAY AFTERNOON concert. Featuring all the big band sounds of the 1940`s and jazz through to present day hits. The concert commences at 1.30pm and concludes at 4.pm. on 17th September at Peninsula Community Theatre, cnr Wilson Road and Nepean Highway, Mornington. Don`t miss it! |

The JAZZ ON SUNDAY afternoon at the Peninsula Community Theatre hall in Mornington, sponsored by Pelican Theatre Company Inc. was a wonderful event. The hall was packed to the limit, and all who attended were treated to fabulous music from the JACK MORRIS BIG BAND and the WESTERNPORT REGIONAL BAND. PTC had a display in the foyer, to promote our organisation. If you missed it, don`t worry. PTC is hoping to run more of these special events.
