Once Upon An Afta

Performed November 2011

A new Youth Show, written by our own Leigh Piper and Jeremy Laing.

Music by Gordon Gribbin. Choreography by Dana Stockton.

Once more the Hastings Hall is host to the rumbustious, tireless galumphing of teenagers rehearsing the Annual Pelican Youth Musical.

This year`s two hours of energy and insanity is written by Jeremy Laing and Leigh Piper, with music by Gordon Gribbin.

The theme is the Annual Fairy Tales Awards, known as AFTA – hence the title of the show: Once Upon an AFTA. Familiar fairy tale characters become vain, jealous, scheming and selfish as they try to foil a plot to reduce the number of eligible fairy tales in the coming awards.

We have pretty Red Riding Hood, sweet Goldilocks, a vain Prince Charming, three ugly old witches, singing fish and a cunning Big Bad Wolf. The Three Little Pigs police the show and Red Riding Hood`s Grandma swaps insults with Big Bad Wolf while disguised as Captain Hook. Not to mention Peter Pan, the Red Queen, Mary and her Little Lamb, and Alice wandering in Pelicanland.

Costumes and lighting will be spectacular. A good, fun show.
